记得有一次实验室一个机器部件坏了，于是去找老板，老板说：“Check with the company to see if they can fix it, if worse comes to worst, we’ll just buy a new one.”意思很明显，老板说和公司先确认一下看能不能修这个部件，实在不行的话，就重新买一个。这里if worse comes to worst 就是假设最坏的情况如果发生，该/会怎么样。英语的解释就是：if the least wanted situation develops…这个比较简单，就不多说了:)
